I recently found an alternative to SHAW CABLE & TELUS for Phone+Internet
bundles.
Here is Telus's combination price -- $74.95 for the first 3 months, then

Here is my experience with the process so far:
I called Wed 28th May to ask some questions (can I keep my current phone
#,
etc) and then filled out the on-line form (it requires monthly payments
via
Credit Card or Debit Card in advance, but only on initiation of the
service). It was supposed to take up to 3 weeks to request a '****t
transfer' from TELUS for my existing phone #.
On Thur 29th May, an email arrived informing me that the activation date
would be Thur 5th June, 8 days from completed form to scheduled
activation.
I have had issues with SHAW CABLE in the early days of their service, when
the monthly bandwidth limit was set at 10 GBytes per month, and I was
using
over 300 GBytes per month. I then transferred to TELUS, who had initially
offered an 'unlimited' amount of bandwidth. Subsequently, the limit was
changed to 100 GBytes.
How can a home user consume over 300 GBytes of file transfer per month? I
had collected some 60,000 do***entaries that had limited & controlled
distribution on existing television broadcast, or had never been
broadcast.
I also have one of the most extensive collections of Coast To Coast AM
radio
show archives going back to 1994. My issue is not one of pirated movies,
however of participation in the distribution & availability of media that
is
currently limited.
Why offer so much alternative video & audio media? I believe we have
collectively lost the ability to discern deception in the making. The
title
of my collection is called "Lesson Towards Discerment" and is available on
the SoulSeek P2P network:
http://www.slsknet.org/
I offer video, audio & digital eBook media. The consumption is occurring
due the desire by media file sharers to acquire the ideas & content that
are
not being offered through television. They seek & find it on my computer,
I
am not sending the content out to disinterested people.
BTW, Dolphin Tel offers a $20 referral credit for referrals and is
extremely
simple to create the credit for me, or whomever you wish to benefit by
your
switching over.
http://www.dolphintel.com/referral.html
Our Dolphin Referral Program is not some complex points reward club, you
don't need to fill out some online registration program. If you are a
Dolphin customer you are automatically enrolled. Just tell all your
friends,
relatives, and co-workers to put your Dolphin telephone number in the
"Referred By" spot on the Dolphin application form when they sign-up.
After your friend gets their own Dolphin, and have made their first
monthly
payment, we'll put a $20.00 credit on your account. Now that's a simple
referral program, and our way of saying thank you for bragging about
Dolphin
as much as we do.
The reason for my switch over to Dolphin Tel is first to save approx $30
per
month for competitive offerings from TELUS & SHAW CABLE (local phone + 100
GBytes per month of high speed internet) *AND* to stimulate more
competition in this market that will hopefully reestablish higher limits
on
Internet usage. There is some additional equipment to purchase, but the
purchase price is recovered in just over 3 months.
TIA for referrals, which are not as im****tant as giving sup****t to a
company
that is adding to price & service competition for access to the Internet.
