Hi group, I am taking *offers* on an older Dell Inspiron 4000. It has a 900 MHz Pentium III processor, 120GB hard drive and 256MB of RAM, definitely not a gaming machine but it does run XP Pro fine (currently installed for demo purposes) and is more than adequate for web surfing, word processing, etc. Various Linux distros should also run on it as well. It has a removable 24x CD-Rom module and a battery. The battery does need to be replaced ($24 - 50 on eBay) as it only last about 15 minutes. More info can be found on the Dell website (Service tag C9WWX01): http://sup****t.dell.com/sup****t/topics/global.aspx/sup****t/product_sup****t/product_sup****t_central?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn or http://preview.tinyurl.com/656hau Computer does NOT have BUILT-IN wireless so I am including a D-Link AirPlus Extreme G PCMCIA card (model DWL-G650 rev B5). D-link drivers, manuals, etc can be found here: http://sup****t.dlink.ca/products/view.asp?productid=DWL%2DG650%5FrevB or http://preview.tinyurl.com/5wedzo Open-source drivers for the DWL-G650 are linked to from here: http://sup****t.dlink.ca/faq/view.asp?prod_id=357&question=General%20Wireless or http://preview.tinyurl.com/6dschu Pictures are available at: http://pebakk.blackapplehost.com/Dell Computer comes without an operating system. XP Pro is installed for demo purposes only and does not include a working key. A CD copy of 32-bit Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Edition can be included upon request.
