He was agreeing with you and criticising my poorly-phrased comment.
Indeed until now I hadn't realized he wasn't you.  :)

I meant that if there were enough customers for the consumable part to
be produced till now, there may not be collectible value in it.  Of
course that may be unfair reasoning -- you can still get gasoline for
a model T.
