This was Subaru's attempt at the ultra-luxury market - a coupe with a
sticker price of $35k. Honda opened the ACURA brand, Toyota did Lexus,
and Nissan did INFINITI, but Subaru attempted to sell this exotic line
in its existing outlets. Low-end car buyers couldn't afford the SVX and
it was badly promoted, so 1997 was the end of the project. However, it
is unquestionably the most beautiful Subaru ever made, and at 160mph the
fastest.

SOME DATA
3.3L flat-6, auto trans, all-wheel drive, leather interior, sunroof, CD,
thermostat, white (recent paint), Don Wang transmission, spare rotors,
recent rubber and brakes, overall excellent condition
In various online forums you'll see that many people are getting over
300,000 miles from this remarkable car - except for the transmission.
This car has about 160k on it. The best rebuilder of SVX transmissions
is unquestionably Don Wang, and we paid $3,800 for one of his jobs about
25k miles ago. In the SVX community there has never been a failure of a
Wang tranny.
I'm now 68 with a back problem, can no longer get into and out of such a
low-sitting vehicle, and my family wants four doors.
