You could go to Princess Auto and buy a code scanner.  They are sometimes
on 
sale there, got mine for $65.  If it was the gas cap, it should have reset

itself, if not, it's probably something else that will need to be checked.

I don't think disconnecting the battery will reset it since it has it's
own 
battery for memory.

Buy a scanner or go to a garage.  Doesn't have to be a dealer.  Most 
reputable shops have scanners.
