Exactly.  Why is it that some of the same people that will complain 
about the quality of various government "services" and in general 
espouse a world view that is distrustful of government motives are often 
the same ones who propose to nationalize something im****tant like health 
care.  Perhaps they believe that government is evil and incompetent only 
when it is controlled by the "other" (i.e. Republican) party. 
Personally, I have seen no difference in the level of incompetence or 
indifference towards the customer (i.e. the taxpayer) when either party 
is in control.  The DMV and the Post Office are about the same no matter 
which party has a majority.  Monopolies are like that.  Of course, while 
most people have an instinctive distrust of monopolies in the private 
sector they seem to have a blind spot when it comes to monopolies in the 
public sector.  In my opinion, public sector monopolies are far worse 
since they are backed by the coercive powers of the state.  At the end 
of the day, no matter how bad your opinion of Microsoft may be, at least 
they can not force you to buy their product at the point of a gun. 
Behind every federal bureaucracy on the other hand is the implied use of 
force.
