Description: This person will serve as a member of the Small
Applications Development Group, specifically as the DBA. The ideal
candidate must possess a minimum of five (5) years working experience in
the computer-related field, with significant database management
experience using Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS technologies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Primary technical contact in the implementation and management of
production SQL Server and Oracle databases.
Provide technical guidance to resolve production and other database
issues.
Ensure compliance with internal and external procedures and requirements
including appropriate do***entation.
Provide technical leader****p in diagnosing and solving database problems.
Advise IT management on industry trends for database systems.
Assist and train staff in database management tasks.
Qualified candidates MUST possess the following:
A minimum of three plus working years knowledge of the following:
Windows 2000 and 2003.
Setting up file transfers (such as FTP) and writing scripts to load
databases.
Developing triggers (stored procedures; database modifications and
database conversions)
Experience in creating database tables, setting up indexes, data
constraints, database views and referential integrity.
Three years proficiency with performance tuning of databases, adjusting
table sizes, database replication, partitioning and setting up alternate
indexes.
Expertise in querying the content of the databases using SQL for simple
re****ts, validation and quality assurance.
Two plus years experience working with XML.
Experience installing patches/fixes provided by vendors in accordance with
internal change control procedures.
Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent work experience with two plus
years experience in Property and Casualty Insurance Industry required.
Additional Requirements:
Application development experience.
Ability to interface clearly with business leaders in non-technical terms.
Hands-on development experience with Microsoft .Net (ASP.Net, VB.Net).
Experience gathering business requirements and translating business
requirements into technical specifications.
