Description:   The candidate filling this LEAD ORACLE DATABASE
ADMINISTRATOR position will: 

•	Provide project and team leader****p as well as day-to-day sup****t of the
production, QA, test and development database environments. Lead project
teams including, operations, application developers and vendors, to
improve technical infrastructure, security, reliability and cost.  
•	Perform Oracle database space management, performance monitoring and
tuning, backup and recovery, database software upgrades and infrastructure
management.
•	In the event of a storage disaster, DBA sup****t is required for the
accurate and timely recovery of an impacted database.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: 
•	Perform all Oracle Database Administration related activities for major
projects independently with minimal or no supervision.
•	Strong capability and ability to resolve highly technical and complex
database and infrastructure related issues on their own before they impact
production and business.
•	Provide technical expertise to the development of solutions for such
items as DBMS tools and utilities usage, database administration, backup
and recovery, database performance tuning and monitoring.
•	Ability to influence development organizations to comply with database
best practices and database standards and practices.
•	Run transaction access path analysis sessions with application
developers, analyzing specifications and code to ensure that data access
and database designs are as efficient as possible.  Make recommendations
for improvements in these areas, if necessary.
•	Fully utilizes CASE tools to develop, or modify, physical database
designs from logical designs, using the logical design, discussion with
the Data Analyst, application development reviews, and do***ented results
from transaction access path analysis sessions as input.
•	Assures quality of database analysis and design across projects, thus
enabling company-wide data reusability.
•	Performs database structure migrations.
•	Trouble-shoots database and/or software problems as they apply to
design, implementation, or installation activities.
•	Schedules and coordinates database maintenance activities including such
items as database reorganizations and restructures.
•	Coordinates and/or participates in database stress tests, analyzes
results, and makes recommendations for design or coding changes based upon
those results.
•	Participates in on-call, overnight off-hour production problem
resolution activities.
•	Develops and maintains DBMS related standards and procedures, knows
where they are located, and makes full use of them.  Follows software
development processes.
•	Researches, evaluates, and tests new software and DBMS related tools and
facilities as they pertain to the existing DBMS environment, database
designs, procedures, and applications.
•	Monitors current DBMS performance and develops procedures, where
necessary, to improve the DBMS environment as required.
•	Identifies and sup****ts quality improvement initiatives.
•	Performs other assignments to comply with the S cor****ate purpose and
mission to add business value, increase revenue, decrease costs, improve
productivity, and sup****t the strategic initiative/directive.
•	Complies with all security and audit standards. Ensures security of
company information by ensuring databases are secure and monitors
environment to identify improper access.  


EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

EXPERIENCE:  The ideal candidate must have 8-10 years of programming
experience with a minimum of 5 years experience as a senior/lead DBA on
all aspects of Oracle Database Administration in a large challenging
database environment on Unix / Linus platform.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES INCLUDE: 
•	The candidate needs experience working on 10g RAC database applications,
Oracle OEM Grid control, RMAN is a plus.
•	Hands on experience working with Power Designer is a plus.
•	Good UNIX Sun Solaris and Linux knowledge is a plus.
•	Skilled in SQL statement tuning and database performance tuning and
PL/SQL programming.
•	Basic understanding of Connection pooling and middleware software like
JBoss, JRun, Tom Cat, IBM Web sphere is desired.
•	Hands on Experience of implementing Oracle 9i and 10G database on UNIX
and Linux platform is a must.
•	Willingness to work on-call DBA rotations in a 7x24 environment.
•	Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•	Ability to perform professional level technical do***entation and
presentation.
•	Ability to create and maintain positive and professional business
relation****ps with both internal associates and external customers.
•	Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
•	Proficient at time and priority management.

EDUCATION 
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or Masters in Computer
Science, with coursework in the information processing or business-related
curricula, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from
which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
