The reason these idiots keep doing this is because most people, me
included, think that once the cheque clears, you're all set. I've read
that unfortunately, the way the banks work is that within a certain
time, say 30 days, they can revoke the cleared cheque and charge it
back to your account.
So you deposit a cheque for $8000, wait for it to clear, then send the
goods to Bolivia. You spend some of the money, or ALL of the money.
Then a month later the bank notifies you that it took this long to find
out from the overseas bank that the cheque was no good. Now you've got
no items for sale and you owe the bank $8000, or whatever ****tion you
spent.
Obviously, it must work on some people because the criminals still use
the same technique.
